電影由他個人的訪談，及眾星重新演繹他的作品現場片段結合而成。熱愛且崇拜他的粉絲們一定會尖叫的。他在訪談中自我剖析了較不為人知的一面。例如他說：「我討厭每一個人，卻總表現得很寬大。」或是「大家都認為我花名在外，其實我一個人渡過了一萬多個孤獨的夜晚。」加拿大創作歌手Rufus Wainwright也在片中出現。他和Leonard Cohen的女兒是好朋友。回憶起第一次見到他心目中偶像的情形，他說：「那天我和他女兒在客廳談事情，走到廚房就看到一個男人，穿著內褲，一面在煎火腿，一面把煎好的火腿撕成碎片，餵食一旁受傷的小鳥。那就是我第一次見到他的情形。他在救一隻受傷的鳥，而且穿著內褲。後來我回到客廳，他忽然換了衣服，穿著一身很正式的亞曼尼西裝向我走來，我整個人這時才從沙發上彈跳起來：天啊，這不是我的偶像Leonard Cohen嗎！」
Leonard Cohen在片中也提及他鍾愛西裝的原因。由於父親的職業關係，他從很年輕的時就開始穿著正式西裝。而穿西裝也令他感到舒適自在。他也試著改穿牛仔褲。「但那感覺就是不對勁。」
我相信這部片子會令所有的創作人手軟。他是許多音樂人的偶像。就像u2的Bono所說：「在這個世界上，有人是清潔工，有人是水電工，有人是醫生和護士，而Leonard Cohen，他是一個詞曲創作者。」
他的音樂與他的文字都散發著懾人的魅力，所以我說這部片子會令所有的創作人手軟。創作音樂的人大概會想回家閉關一輩子，而創作文字的人大概這輩子都不會再想寫字。
Bono形容他的文字令他想起詩人雪萊及拜倫。在片子裡Leonard Cohen也提及到他與一些詩人朋友的互動，參與詩人集會的情形，以及他開始寫詩的由來。「很久以前，我曾經愛上一個女子，她是一個女詩人。她愛上我的朋友，寫了一首情詩給他。我到現在都還記得那些句子。」在片中他吟出詩句，導演也用了魔幻的手法處理。「我的朋友唸給我聽，他覺得這沒有什麼，但是我卻被這些句子深深感動了。於是我也開始寫詩。」
另外，這部片子的導演所採用的拍攝及剪接手法，都相當leonard cohen。會這麼說是因為他的那本書Beautiful Loser。整部片子的氣氛及節奏，就像他形容自己所寫出來的書「帶著一種中暑的症狀」一樣，都帶著暈眩及迷幻的氣息。而適時出現的由眾人演繹的他的作品，其音樂及詩詞則令我們清醒到激動落淚。
這就是Leonard Cohen。
電影最後由Leonard Cohen本人與U2一起演唱的Tower of song劃下句點。
